Last rode the scooter in late October or early November. Started it up yesterday and the mother fucker will not stay running.

I AM SO OVER IT

Who wants to help me drain my gas tank? I'm selling that bitch some Spring.

cool down

all is good

it is only a scooter

we all have maintenance to do and so do you
I'll stop over and see whats up but the simple things are easy to do and you can do them too:
- new spark plug
- de flood the top end (this is what happen I bet) while plug is out
- start up and ride till hot since the exhaust is full of fuel i bet

you gas tap is probably not sealing 100% of the flow as it should

to winterize:
- run carb dry
- fill gas tank up all the way or drain it all the way

thats it

or ride it every month to keep all healthy

It sounds like it is running so it may not be flooded. If it only stays running above 1/8 throttle the idle jet probably got some crap built up in it. Pretty easy fix, just need to give the carb a blow or get at it with some pipe cleaners. Good luck!

Ok, Will... I'll take you up on that. And after we figure out why she's misbehaving, let's empty the tank.

I'm putting my money on a dirty idle jet or something messing with the float needle. Little air compressors can be had for very cheap these days, carb cleaner is expensive and adds up to the price of a used compressor pretty quickly.

plug was fouled
carb was a little loose on the manifold
tightened up the carb to manifold bolt
top end was a little flooded
plug cleaned up with a lighter
top end de flooded while plug was out and tap was off = kicked it 10 times
plug back in
tap back on to Reserve
started up after a 10 kicks
would only stay running with choke on
idle jet removed and blown out
idle jet back in
engine idled just fine after that
E Dave thought the mixture screw was a bit too rich due smoke and oil spitted onto the ground via tailpipe
leaned mixture screw by a 1/5th turn and upped the idle speed a little bit too

Informed her that the #8 plug can foul if she is stopping and going around town due to how cold it runs and that a #7 would be better for town riding while the #8 is better for HW riding.

all is good

"new" manifold is on
sealed it with ultra copper high temp goo
checked all top end nuts for spec
brand new carb is on and set up with old carbs jets (thanks to Dustin)
had to chase the carbs idle jet threads since they were a bit f**ked

scoot is working better than ever I was told after Dustin and Gidget did a test ride
knock on wood

Great, always said you were the expert for the small frame. What was different about the new manifold ?
