gl electrics

Postby Tuna Cowboy » Mon Jul 15, 2013 8:48 pm

Thanks for the suggestion Dave, might have been one issue but found another. Stator wiring is old and frayed. Seems like my bike wanted a blood sacrifice (mine) and a refreshed stator. I'll work on Molly's small frame tomorrow and give that a go.
Cheers,
Geoff

Do you want me to rebuild the stator?

If you were able to. It's not a skill I have. It's sitting loose on the bike, just needs to have the wires fed through. thank you for the help, just a little busy right now.

Rewiring stator plates is actually one of my favorite things to do suprisingly. I think a good majority of scooter have some bad wiring on the stator that really kills the reliability.

Its up to you guys, I have all the wires and fittings except the blue, which I can acquire. I have lots of yellow and purple for normal 'P' s.

I've got a full plate for a good bit, but once the weather goes downhill I'll have more time for it

Actually found blue wire , good to go. Picked up the stator, all the wiring is KA-KA, took pictures. I have no clue how this thing worked with no insulation on parts of all the wires. All coils look good. The blue wire turned black which makes guessing the correct wire a crap shoot. Fortunately it is the one that is not ground. Working on Mikes painting this PM so should get back to the stator first thing tomorrow morning when I am at my dazzling best.

Stator works, wiring still appears messed up. One problem down....onward.

New voltage regulator fixed it. Test ride tomorrow, fingers crossed.

So I might be riding tonight. Lights seemed to go out but then came back on. I'll give it another shot tonight.
