ape color

Postby Tuna Cowboy » Wed Sep 11, 2013 9:28 pm

Looking for ideas and suggestions on what color scheme to paint the ape. I'd like topowder coat what I can on the motor and suspension. I'm looking for the right balance of style with durability e.g. I'd like to spray bedliner on the bed and undercoat the bottom as appropriate. Not really liking the original blue color, doubt I could do the work good enough to spray black, any thoughts?

Black is tough but possible with enough patience. I never have the patience to get the bodywork that good so I don't have a black scooter. Lighter colors tend to hide imperfections better. I'd probably wait and see how the bodywork went before making a final decision.

was talking with Landon...
I think you might be was happier with letting a pro do the main job of cleaning up the old rust and paint

the Armur place out west of us I bet could do the whole frame for cheap and even powder coat it afterwards. The cost of doing it yourself would be about the same as if letting them do it for you I am thinking.

you would still have to bring it home to do the dry build so that you can add more metal supports for the bed and hitch if needed

first step is getting it apart, then i will see what it will run to get it cleaned up, dipped or sand blasted. exploring lots of options and always eager to swap ideas.

I would stay away from black. too hot in summer months when you'll be using it the most.

I like that vintage sage green used by Fiat.

i'm thinking it might end up ss white and do some minor accents with black and chrome. maybe something akin to this for flashy-ness Image
