acorn tail light repair

Postby joe » Mon May 09, 2016 11:02 pm

the back clip behind the brake light (top) isn't connected. the white plastic of the small base is supposed to connect to the square hole in the center of the bracket. I think something is missing. any clue? Anyone have an original tail light like this to look at and compare?

Just make it work....

The square hole is a ground for both bulbs as it connect to base plate

The tabs with the plastic is to separate those feeds from going directly to ground.... plastic doesn't flow power.

I would run wires threw the feeds directly to bulbs.... one power for running plate light, 2 feed to the main bulb (brake and running lighf), and then one ground to base plate

Solder should do it

the wire for the brake light connect directly the metal clip. the plastic keeps it from grounding. the ground connection is below it. not sure solder to plastic, don't think so. there is no sign of solder being used.
