I built up and installed the engine yesterday and today. I've got to work out a couple wiring issues and charge the battery better. Should start it up tomorrow. I'll try to get a video. It'll either run or self destruct. Either way should be good footage.

Ran the engine some more today. Burned off a lot of oil and crud. I gotta get it turned around in the garage so I don't die of carbon monoxide. Then I can fine tune carb idle and timing. Gotta get a shifter stop plate. The rag the previous owner installed in its place isn't really working. Then I'll run a clutch cable and throttle cable. Once it shifts and runs smooth I gotta go through all brake components. Should need shoes, wheel cylinders, and new master cylinder. Then I might drive it around the block! Of course paint and body work are ongoing...

If you keep fiddling with it, it's going to fall off...

just dilute it and put it in your rig, it'll burn, just not great.

Shifter in place by jeffrey_christensen@ymail.com, on Flickr

This doesn't look exciting, but, now the single cab can shift! Yay me. Tip for others: if for whatever reason you do not have a shifter stop plate, you can't substitute a wash rag like the previous owner of this one did. It won't work. Don't do it.

Next up:
Continue to free up clutch pedal for smooth and complete travel and return (Check)
Fix the accelerator hinge and run new cable (Check)
Put some brakes on this thing
Drive it around the block

Ok, clutch freed up and accelerator cable installed. It moved on its own! 8) Only a foot in each direction though. Gotta get some brakes now.

Got some window frames. 8) Will, let me know when you plan to cut glass. Looks like I'll need some too.
